GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Director of the Centers for Early Childhood Education (CECE) plans, supervises, and assesses personnel, curricula, activities, and operations of the Jeanne M. Canelli Child Development Lab (CDL) and Early Childhood Center (ECC) at Framingham State University (FSU). The Director collaborates with FSU Education Department, other FSU departments, and community partners to offer on EEC-licensed instructional programs for preschool-age children (two years and nine months to kindergarten) to provide practicum, observation, and other experiences that support classroom instruction and model child development theory and best practices.

CECE staff, Early Childhood Education undergraduate and graduate pre-practica field study and Child and Family Studies students, student interns and employees, and volunteers working in the CECE.
EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of the Centers for Early Childhood Centers (CECE) is responsible for the administration and management of the Jeanne M. Canelli Child Development Lab (CDL) and Early Childhood Center (ECC), which includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:
Providing for the safety of the preschool and FSU students participating in the CDL and ECC
Interviewing, hiring, onboarding, supervising CECE staff, substitute teachers, student interns, and work study students. This includes background checks and hiring contracts.
Supervising the staff of the CDL and ECC, Early Childhood Education pre-practica, and Child and Family Studies students (in collaboration with faculty), substitute teachers, student interns, student employees, and volunteers in the CDL
Planning and implementing the annual budget of the CECE, including payroll, purchases, managing contracts and grants, overseeing maintenance of facilities, and collecting and recording tuition for the programs
Overseeing the development and implementation of the curriculum for the CDL and ECC and the ongoing professional development of staff
Recruiting and registering preschool children in the CDL and ECC
Overseeing the partnership and collaboration with Framingham Public Schools for the Partnerships for Early Learners (PEL)
Collaborating with Education Department faculty and staff with coursework, pre-practica, committees, and events
Establishing and maintaining parent relations, engagement, and communication through handbooks, newsletters, electronic media, Parent Advisory Board, family events, and parent-teacher conferences
Supervising the administration of assessments, progress monitoring, and parent-teacher conferences conducted by CECE staff for the children in CDL and ECC
Ensuring CECE compliance with DESE regulations for licensure in early childhood education in collaboration with department faculty, including subject matter knowledge as outlined in the MA Curriculum Frameworks, and the incorporation of social emotional learning standards, early literacy standards, approaches to play, and practices supporting the implementation of the MA Professional Standards for Teachers with the CECE's in-service teachers and pre-service teacher candidates.
Complying with the MA Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) regulations and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) practices to maintain state licensure and accreditation for the CDL and ECC and serve as liaison to these organizations for the CECE and University
Completing NAEYC re-accreditation and annual reports, EEC re-licensure for the CECE, and all other required licensing and accreditation processes
Representing the CECE in community, state, and national early childhood organizations and events.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Literacy or related field
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Teacher licensure in Early Childhood Education (PreK-2 Initial or Professional)
Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care Director II Certification
Experience teaching in an inclusive setting in the public school system or nonprofit organization
At least five years of preschool lead teaching experience in an inclusive setting
A demonstrated record of collaboration with a variety of formal and informal preschool consortia and organizations
At least three years of preschool administrative experience
American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certificates prior to official start date
A successful background record check, according to EEC regulations and policies
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Familiarity with EEC certification requirements for preschool teacher and lead teacher candidates and DESE licensure requirements for early childhood and elementary teacher candidates
Experience working with or teaching college-level courses in early childhood education or related field
Experience in a multilingual educational setting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Portuguese
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position in the Association of Professional Administrators (APA) bargaining unit with a union title of Director. The starting salary range is $92,000 - $98,500.
