Chairperson Associate Professor or Professor - Tenured Department of Child and Family Studies
College of Education, Nutrition and Human Studies
Primary Responsibilities
Fulfill department administrative duties on a 12-month contract, with 6 credits of instruction per semester; or equivalent reassigned time as approved by the Dean and Provost
Provide collegial leadership for faculty on the main campus, regional campuses, and in online programs
Provide assistance with accreditation requirements, data collection, policies and procedures
Provide academic planning for all departmental programs
Provide oversight of budget, facilities, and equipment
Coordinate curriculum planning, development, practices and procedures
Provide supervision and/or evaluation practices commensurate with common collegial practices
Oversee student recruitment and retention initiatives
Support the facilitation of faculty research productivity
Provide leadership for addressing faculty-student conflicts
Required Qualifications
D. or Ed.D in Child and Family Studies or related field; degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university
Demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and service sufficient to merit rank of Associate Professor or Professor with tenure
Demonstrated record of administrative and leadership experience in an academic community, including budgetary experience; time management and scheduling; conflict resolution; and advocacy for an academic unit
Demonstrated ability to champion the disciplines within the department
Evidence of familiarity with relevant accreditations and governing bodies within the department
Demonstrated success with scholarly research
Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, partnerships, and collegiality with a variety of stakeholders including internal university community
Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of faculty morale and enthusiasm
Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
