The Director of the Wilshire Baptist Church Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) will provide administrative leadership that enables ECLC to fulfill its purpose of providing a loving Christian environment that nurtures each child’s spiritual, cognitive, physical, emotional and social development and that supports each family.
Provide day-to-day management of the ECLC program.
Operate ECLC in compliance with Texas Minimum Standards for Childcare Centers, Wilshire Baptist Church policies, and other applicable federal, state and local regulations. Stay informed of updates to state minimum standards and ensure ongoing compliance.
Develop and maintain a safe, nurturing and orderly environment conducive to the growth and development of each child by providing age-appropriate games, art and learning in an organized atmosphere.
Exercise independent judgment and decision-making authority to enforce ECLC policies and procedures and maintain the center according to ECLC philosophy. Regularly evaluate policies and procedures to ensure continued applicability and
Enroll children and ensure parents are familiar with the Parent Handbook and ECLC philosophies. Establish and maintain communications with parents. Address and resolve parent complaints and staff concerns.
Develop and oversee the operating budget with the approval of the Weekday Education Committee.
Oversee accounting functions, including billing parents and collecting tuition and fees, and purchasing supplies according to ECLC and Wilshire Baptist Church guidelines.
Handle emergencies in a safe and professional manner. Be familiar with procedures for fire and weather-related emergencies and conduct and document practice drills. Communicate center delays and closures with parents.
Ensure sick or injured children are attended to without delay. Fill out incident/accident report forms and contact parent when needed. Review incident/accident report forms annually to identify any accident trends and prepare corrective action plan as needed.
Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of all ECLC areas and ensure that shared spaces are ready for use for other church activities. Keep Weekday Education Committee informed about non-routine repairs or replacements needed for equipment, facility or grounds.
Create and coordinate special programs for educational and/or spiritual enrichment and parent engagement.
Maintain confidentiality of all information and records pertaining to children and families.
Provide reports to the Weekday Education Committee and attend scheduled meetings.
Lead and manage staff and teachers.
Hire and supervise staff. Coach, discipline and terminate staff as necessary.
Perform administrative tasks including staff scheduling to maintain compliance with teacher to child ratio requirements and conducting staff meetings. Arrange for substitute staff as needed. Keep records that pertain to the administration of the center in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws. Keep an up to date file on each staff member and enrolled child.
Provide each employee with a copy of the Employee Handbook and confirm receipt. Ensure employees stay informed of ECLC policies and procedures.
Conduct annual employee performance evaluations.
Develop and oversee an ongoing training program for teachers and staff.
Support teachers and staff with their professional development and be available to discuss any concerns or issues that may arise. With the support of the ECLC Curriculum Coordinator (whenever possible), supervise and support staff and children in the classroom, including assisting with curriculum development, resource procurement and organization of activities.
Ensure that each employee maintains current certification in CPR and First Aid.
Designate a person in charge when the Director is absent and ensure timely and appropriate delegation of authority.
Support the overall ministry of Wilshire Baptist Church.
Encourage children and families to participate in the ministries and activities of Wilshire Baptist Church.
Collaborate with the Preschool Minister and the Weekday Education Committee in exploring community needs and determining how ECLC can expand its ability to meet those needs.
Attend Wilshire Baptist Church weekly staff meetings.
Meet or exceed Wilshire Baptist Church’s minimum qualifications of the Director.
Meet requirements to be qualified as a child care center director as mandated by the Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care Licensing.
Have minimum of 5 years of experience as a child care center director.
Believe in and support the mission of Wilshire Baptist Church.

The Director of Early Childhood Learning Center for Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas will meet the requirements to be qualified as a child care center director as mandated by the Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care Licensing and have a minimum of five years of experience as a center director. The individual will believe in and support the mission of Wilshire Baptist Church. Physical/emotional requirements include the ability to lift 35-40 pounds; walk, squat, sit on floor for extended periods of time; see, hear, and speak to children for their supervision and safety; maintain emotional control under stressful situations and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Wilshire Baptist Church, 4316 Abrams Road in Dallas, TX, has an immediate opening for an experienced child care center director. The ideal candidate will meet the criteria for serving as a center director according to the State of Texas Minimum Standards for Childcare Centers, have five or more years of experience as a center director and be supportive of the mission and ministries of Wilshire Baptist Church.
