Preschool Educator for Children’s Collective Palo Alto, CA Seeking a teacher for a small group of families who have decided to homeschool and shelter in together for the 2020-2021 school year. This educator would be responsible for a preschool-aged cohort and would plan and execute an education program for these children in partnership with other teachers. This program would be focused on a reggio emilia-inspired, play-based, child-led program and outdoor education. The families value kindness and empathy towards others as the most important quality and are looking for teachers who can guide their children through the school year with awareness and compassion. The ideal candidate would be able to be highly flexible and adaptable to the role and be able to work with other teachers and specialists. This candidate would be a team player and be prepared to lead and follow the other teachers as needed. Flexibility in schedule and the ability to shelter in with the families and follow a shelter protocol is also important. This is an opportunity to work with other innovative educators who are interested in creating, learning, and exploring with each other, the children, and the families. It is also an opportunity to teach in-person for the entire school year and to build deep relationships with the small cohort. This is a full-time live-out position of 40 hours a week. Monthly salary equivalent to 85K/year, Healthcare (+dental/vision), 401K, housing stipend and moving costs up to $2500.
Responsibilities - Lead, set up, and organize play and exploration areas for preschool aged children in collaboration with outdoor educator - Manage inventory for preschool aged cohort. - Research and design reggio emilia and play-based experiences for children. - Assist outdoor educator on weekly field trips. - Document and communicate children’s progress to families which includes but is not limited to a daily facebook post, weekly email, weekly newsletter blurb, quarterly individual reflections for each student and quarterly parent meetings. - Create safe opportunities for children to build confidence in physical movement - Research and develop social emotional learning opportunities for children that are age-appropriate. - Guide children to build inquiry skills: observe, document, investigate, problem solve. - Filling in for other teachers when they are absent - Keeping the learning environment and office space organized and clean - Participate in group collaborations and activities - Participate in professional development - Find opportunities to support other teachers.
