Do you want to make a difference in the lives of children and families? Tri-County Head Start is seeking an experienced, energetic Full-Time Head Start Center Director. Become a leader in a mission driven team working to support low-income and at-risk children and families in beautiful Southwest Colorado. This position ensures we are supporting child development outcomes and meeting the needs of families in the communities we serve. TCHS strives to build positive, goal-oriented relationships with children, families and staff to engage them in all facets of early education.
The Center Director position is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities and facilitating general center operations. This position works closely with Central Office staff located in Durango, CO and is supported by the Executive Director, Education Specialist, Health & Safety Director, IT & Facilities Director, and Family & ERSEA Manager. This center is a licensed state childcare facility that offers part day and school day program options year-round.
The ideal candidate has strong leadership and supervision skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, experience with child care licensing, excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and a proven ability to build relationships with families, children and staff.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree (BA) in Early Childhood Education or a related field, Colorado Large Center Director Certification or willingness to obtain. Minimum of 5 years’ experience directing a child care center required, previous experience with Head Start/Early Head Start and teaching experience preferred.
Additional Salary Information: Sign On Bonus of $1,500 for applicant who is Large Center Director Qualified at the time of hire and successfully completes 90 days of employment.
Health benefits along with Dental and Vision are available for enrollment on the 1st of the month following 60 days of employment. Additional benefits include sick, personal and vacation, along with paid winter and spring breaks. Option to sign up for a 403 (b) plan after one year of employment.

Tri-County Head Start has been serving children and low income families for over 40 years. Our dedicated staff of early childhood education professionals work hard to provide quality programs at our licensed centers in La Plata, Archuleta, and Montezuma Counties. In one program year, over 300 children ages 0-5 years benefit from services including: age-appropriate educational activities, health screenings and assessments, disability services, and family engagement activities, all at no cost to parents or guardians.
