Good Shepherd Montessori (GSM) is a Christian-based, Montessori school serving 40 children ages 2 ½ to 6 years. GSM is a Washington State licensed child care center and a participant in the Early Achievers quality rating and improvement system.
General Job Description: The director is responsible for day-to-day operations, financial oversight, public relations and special projects as assigned by the advisory board. For licensing purposes director serves the role of “director” AND “program supervisor”. The work week consists of 30 hours, including some evening and weekend hours for special events.
Minimum Educational Requirements:
Meets DCYF licensing standards via one of the following:
Infant/Toddler or ECE Montessori Diploma from a MACTE accredited institution.
WA ECE State Certificate
CDA plus 35 WA state approved ECE Credits
47 College Quarter, WA state approved ECE Credits
Completion of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level One training within two years of employment.
Working knowledge of accounting principles, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel programs.
Minimum Professional Requirements:
Two years of experience teaching children between the ages of 2 ½ to 6.
At least six months of experience in administration or management including record maintenance, financial management, and staff management
Ability to obtain, upon hiring, pediatric CPR and First Aid certification, blood borne pathogen/AIDS/HIV training, food handler’s permit, criminal background clearance, safe sleep training, child restraint training, complete a DCYF provided orientation and pass TB Screening.
Completion of the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia’s Safeguarding God’s Children and Safeguarding God’s People trainings within one month of employment. (online class only acceptable until next available in-person class)
Two years of work experience in a Montessori preschool
Loves the Church and God’s people and has a caring manner toward children and families, co-workers and community
Willingness to share the Good News of Jesus Christ
Ability to manage multiple tasks in an efficient manner.
Ability to lift 45 pounds and to keep children under auditory and visual supervision
The Good Shepherd Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten program is a ministry of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Located within the Church of the Good Shepherd at 805 SE Ellsworth Road, Vancouver, WA, 98664, the Good Shepherd Montessori program serves young children ages 2½ to 6 years of age.
The mission of Good Shepherd Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten program is to offer a Christian-based preschool/kindergarten which will provide developmental and spiritual guidance to children, grant need-based scholarships to one in four students, and provide families an atmosphere of trust and Christian love.
