The Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School, a pluralistic community Jewish day school, seeks qualified candidates to fill the position of Gurim/Junior Kindergarten Part-Time Assistant Teacher for the 2019-2020 academic year. The Gurim/JK program is designed to provide an academically rich, school-based early childhood program for students who do not meet the September 1st birthday cut-off date for enrollment in Kindergarten and have experienced three years of preschool. This position has a schedule of four hours/day and 20 hours/week.
This position will require an individual who demonstrates a passion for early childhood education, a palpable love for and warmth with young children, and a whole-child approach to teaching. Candidates will possess a progressive approach to education, flexibility to manage a variety of assignments and classroom duties, strong collaboration skills, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and communal learning environment.

A Bachelor’s degree and certification in Early Childhood Education and 1-3 years of classroom teaching experience is required, with an advanced degree in education or a related field preferred.
