Perspectives recognizes the value of early childhood education and the critical periods of learning exclusive to early childhood. This new position for a PreK Teacher/Program Administrator will implement a brand new preschool program for young children ages 3-5 years with an emphasis on social and emotional development and contribute to creating high quality across all children’s programming.
For more than 40 years, Perspectives has served moms and kids through children's programming, health services and supportive housing. In 2020, the organization will grow to include 3 more preschool classrooms and opportunities for this individual to grow within the organization.
Creates and implements developmentally appropriate learning activities, including engaging classroom environments, based upon approved early childhood curriculum. Improves and enhances environment and instructional practices on an ongoing basis.
Assesses learners’ growth and development and individualizes education and care to meet children’s needs. Documents children’s progress toward improving learning outcomes.
Promotes inclusion through equitable practices in their position as a culturally competent teacher.
Knowledge of teaching and learning strategies to meet a wide variety of learning styles and abilities.
Provides leadership to create a high quality early childhood environment encompassing curriculum, instruction, professional development and all aspects of licensing and operations.
Collaborates with team members to provide the best environment for young children and the program as a whole.
Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and written, within all aspects of the program.
Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or early development (Birth to Age 8).
PreK or Birth to Grade 3, Early Childhood License
Knowledge of developing high quality early childhood education programming for young children that meets Minnesota DHS Rule 3, National Association for the Education of Young Children (YAEYC) standard, MN Early Childhood Indicators of Progress (ECIPS), and developmentally appropriate practice (DAP).
Professional membership in Minnesota Association for the Education of Young Children (MnAEYC) or NAEYC.
Demonstrated experience in working with young children with challenging behavior with attention to caring relationship and supportive instructional practices.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Demonstrated understanding of young children’s, Birth to Age 8, development across all domains including social/emotional, physical, cognitive, language and literacy.
Show initiative and function as a self-starter.
Demonstrated ability to operate computer, software and essential classroom technology.
Maintain professional composure and communication with children, parents and colleagues.
