Job Summary: Responsible for providing direction and support for the children (infant through Pre-K).
Designs and implements developmentally appropriate curriculum for children. Assesses development of children. Continuously modifies teaching strategies based on the evaluation results, and varying abilities of the children in the group.
Develops and maintains partnership with team teacher, Center staff, and families. Participates in planning and implementation of Center events that include families, staff and college students.
Shares assessment findings and other important information with families on a daily, weekly, or as needed basis. Informs Center supervisors of any pertinent information related to families or children; in written or verbal form, shares information appropriately with other Center staff members.
Trains, supports and mentors practicum students and paid teaching assistants. Provides constructive feedback verbally and in writing. Recognizes and reports growth in abilities to students, their course instructor and Center supervisors.
Obtains a minimum of 24 hours of staff training yearly, as stipulated in Staff Handbook. Maintains current CPR and First Aid Certification.
In addition to NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct, reads, understands, enforces, and adheres to the policies and procedures detailed in Staff, Student and Family Handbooks.
Performs other duties as assigned.
1. Minimum 100 credits completed toward Bachelor’s degree in Child Development or related field. Credits must be current and degree must be completed by December 31, 2019. 2. Experience working with children in a supervised setting. 3. Ability to successfully interact with diverse group of children, students, staff, parents, and co-workers in a manner that positively reflects upon the College.
Additional Salary Information: Hourly rate is dependent upon experience and education.
