MTSU’s Department of Elementary and Special Education invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#116180) at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank. Start date for the position is August 1, 2019.
Primary responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate instruction in early childhood and elementary education. This position would be responsible for supporting instruction across the early childhood and elementary education programs. Responsibilities could include supporting students’ development related to how children learn, cultural responsiveness, and integration of evidence-based teaching strategies by teaching courses at various stages in the programs. Other responsibilities include curriculum development, supervision of students in field-based placements, and collaboration with other faculty.
Mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students, university/college/departmental/public school service, and scholarly activity relevant to the candidate’s discipline also required.
Responsibilities also may include other teaching assignments in the Ed.D. or Ph.D. programs, and/or other College of Education programs, based on the qualifications of the faculty and the needs of the department and college programs. Teaching assignments may include courses that meet outside of normal business hours (some midweek and/or Friday evenings & weekends). Some courses meet off campus and may require travel. (All program related travel is reimbursed per MTSU Travel Policies.)
At least 3 years teaching experience as a teacher in in public and/or private elementary school in the early grades (K-3).
Doctorate in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or other related field.
Candidates with experience working with culturally or linguistically diverse students or in diverse school settings would receive special consideration.
