In collaboration with the 0-3 Associate Program Director, the Center’s leadership team and staff, the Program Director, 0-3 will be responsible for the following:
Partner with the NYC DOE, All Our Kin, Bank Street Graduate Faculty and other external partners, as necessary, to implement this grant project focused on strengthening the quality of instruction in family childcare by overseeing, and as needed, directly supporting, the:
Design and facilitation of monthly professional learning sessions for DOE family child care coaches and EarlyLearn network coaches in Districts 23 and 27.
Design and facilitation of monthly professional learning sessions for 0-3 childcare providers.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to plan the scope and sequence of learning that will take place for coaches and care providers through these cycles of professional learning.
Supervise the work of the Associate Director who will carry out these plans with feedback and support from the Director.
Serve as one of the lead facilitators for all “on the ground” professional development sessions.
Support related professional development contracts secured as part of the 0-3 portfolio of projects.
Provide input and strategic guidance as needed to Center Leadership supporting the growth of the portfolio of 0-3 projects.
Manage Internal Team
Lead strategic meetings (both on-site and virtual), plan key meetings to ensure the project stays on track.
Meet with the Deputy Executive Director weekly to check-in on the progress of, and make adjustments, to the project.
Supervise and develop the Associate Director role and oversight of the management relationship between the Associate Director and Implementation Associate.
Strategic Guidance & Analytics/Reporting
Meet with the district leadership regularly to monitor project progress and recommend adjustments accordingly.
Participate in other key meetings that report on and inform the trajectory of the project.
Inform the development of data and other tools for project implementation to be carried out by the Implementation Associate.
Provide guidance and direction on the collection and tracking of data on the quality of experiences for participants; inform analysis of this information.
Lead presentations on the debriefing of learnings and implications of the project in an ongoing fashion with DOE and Center staff.
Demonstrated ability to design and manage complex and multiple projects.
Demonstrated ability to productively facilitate professional development workshops and group discussions.
Demonstrated understanding of instructional practices and pedagogical theories for 0-3 and Family Child Care settings.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with external partners.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with experienced educators, including district leaders (e.g. Superintendents and their designees).
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage staff and lead a team.
Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills that resonate with audiences of different backgrounds; the ability to communicate persuasively, concisely, and unambiguously in speech and in writing.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to work effectively with others at varying levels of an organization and to consistently display a high level of professionalism in all interactions.
Flexibility in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment of quickly changing priorities and tight deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to design systems or processes to solve a problem.
Strong critical thinking and project management skills.
Minimum of 5 years of teaching and/or coaching and/or school leadership and/or district leadership experience, preferably with diverse and/or high-need student populations
Additional Salary Information: This is a grant funded position that will run through June 30, 2019.
The position is contingent upon securing funds.
